We are truly honored.
We are truly honored to have won The Petties 2012 Best Blog Post Award. We were thrilled to be finalists and when we learned of the other finalists in our category, all super talented wonderful friends and fellow cat writers, we knew we would be thrilled no matter who won, because Dogtime Media makes a generous donation to a non-profit shelter and we knew that our cousins in need would be getting some much needed help.
Just a couple days after we returned home from the Cheetah Conservation Fund in Namibia, we received and email from The Petties, asking us:
What makes the post that you’re nominated for so important?
Having just spent time learning more about the plight of the wild cheetah, as well as leopards and lions, the article that was nominated meant even more to us, and this was the answer that we sent back to The Petties.
Loss and fragmentation of habitat and depletion of prey are leading to rapidly declining populations of wildlife and in particular predators. Ecosystems need predators to remain healthy, yet humans continue to persecute and eliminate them from our world. “Cat Obituary Farewell Eastern Cougar” is about the heartbreak of extinction and a reminder to care for all animals big and small.

The Tiniest Tiger is a finalist in the 2012 Petties Best Blog Post Category
I am pleased to tell you that The Tiniest Tiger’s Conservation Cub Club is a finalist in the 2012 Petties!
Our are up for Best Blog Post for our Cat Obituary, Farewell Eastern Cougar. We are honored to be nominated again this year in the Petties. I am proud to be a finalist for our post about the Eastern Cougar’s extinction. I wanted the post to be a voice for our big cat cousins and the trouble they are having surviving in the human dominated landscape.
We have been honored for the past three years, since the first Petties to be nominated for an award. We were a finalist in 2010 for Best Cause Related Blog and in 2011 for Best Cat Blog. This year we were nominated for Best Facebook Page in the Blogpaws Nose to Nose Awards and now we are a finalist in the Best Blog Post category for the 2012 Petties.

DogTimes’s Petties 2012 Nomination Time!
It is that time of year again!
Dogtime Media’s 2012 Pettie Awards recognize the best among pet bloggers each year. Our The Tiniest Tiger’s Conservation Cub Club has been nominated twice, once in 2010 and in 2011. I hope you will help us in 2012 too!
Nominations for the 2012 Petties are now open! Voting not only helps us win a Pettie, but you can help your favorite shelter or rescue group win $10,000 in the 2012 Pre-Petties $10,000 Donation Contest
And nominating is super easy! Just visit the Petties Nominations Center once a day between now and June 29, and nominate The Tiniest Tiger’s Conservation Cub Club for Best Cat Blog. Nominate your favorite shelter or rescue group at the same time (must be a non-profit 501c3). I am also fond of the post Cat Obituary, Farewell Eastern Cougar. This post touched the hearts of many of us by reminding us to care for all cats big and small and thinking harder about habitats for big cats. I would love to be nominated for Best Blog Post too!
