“The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service propose to amend the regulations that implement the Endangered Species Act by removing inter-subspecific crossed or generic tiger (Panthera tigris)(i.e.,specimens not identified or identifiable as members of Bengal, Sumatran, Siberian or Indochinese subspecies from the list of species that are exempt from registration under the Captive-bred Wildlife (CBW) regulations.” To read the entire proposal, click here.

Don’t be overwhelmed when you see the words crammed on the pages. All you need to do is leave a comment in your own words. Simply say you are FOR the new rule rescinding the generic tiger exemption.  That is all you have to say and you will have done an amazing thing towards saving our big cat cousins.  It will only take about 30 seconds and it doesn’t cost a penny.  Won’t you please help? Fa la la la la, la la la _______________________!

See rules below if you are new to this Gracey Game

The prize is one The Tiniest Tiger coloring book, one The Tiniest Tiger key chain and a lip balm from Gracey’s Avon for Animals

Welcome to The Tiniest Tiger’s 9 ( now it is 7!) Days of Christmas.  ~9 days for 9 Lives~

When you see me, Gracey, The Tiniest Tiger or one of my Friends in Festive Attire,

get ready for a Gracey Game!

Here is where it gets a little tricky. (blame Bad Kitty for making the rules.)

Sometimes the post will be here on our Conservation Cub Club and sometimes it will be on our The Tiniest Tiger Facebook page. So the Gracey games will require that you stalk and pounce both places. But that is what makes the game fun, isn’t it?

OK, in the photo you see Lazy Leopard and I wearing festive attire right?

When you see a photo with festive attire, pounce on the comment section and type

Fa la la la la, la la la _______!

Each Gracey Game will have a different ending for you to type!

For example, this photo would be;

Fa la la la la, la la la Lazy Leopard!

Got it?

Everyone that comments with the correct answer will be entered to win using a random number to pick the winner.

Lions Soaking Up the Sunshine!

Good Morning Sunshine!

I meant that for the sun and for all of my Friends that brighten my day!

Now that the morning air is a little crisp and there is a gentle breeze, I couldn’t help but think about our big cousin Joseph at Big Cat Rescue.  Now I know, you can’t tell the difference between Joseph and me, Gracey, The Tiniest Tiger and that is alright for a Tuesday after a long week-end.  And besides, I am really getting good at my big cousin imitations, so try not to let it get you down if you can’t tell us apart.

We are both enjoying the sun and we both have big smiles on our faces.

Hakuna matata!

Thank you everyone!  Meow for Now!

The Tiniest Tiger Tuesday Tiger Imitaion!

Welcome Friends to The Tiniest Tiger Tuesday Tiger Imitation!

I thought about giving you a little time off after you were trying so hard to figure out Whoops! Wednesday.  There were some pretty good guesses, but sadly, none of them were even close.  Don’t worry though, you will see tomorrow when Whoops! Wednesday arrives.

In the mean time, try to  concentrate and decide which is me, Gracey, The Tiniest Tiger and which is our big cat cousin living at Big Cat Rescue.  Am I on the left?  Or am I on the right?  We both have a few stripes running down between our ears so that makes this imitation even more difficult.   Take your time.  I will be here napping…I meant thinking and working all day. Good Luck.  Meow for Now.

The Tiniest Tiger’s Lazy Leopard Look Alike Test

Friends, Lazy Leopard and I were checking up on our big cat cousins at Big Cat Rescue this morning.   We got super excited when we saw that Big Cat Rescue posted a photo of their very own Lazy Leopard!  Now  let’s see if you can tell the difference between my Lazy Leopard and the Lazy Leopard that lives at Big Cat Rescue.  Take your time.  I know it is really difficult.  Lazy Leopard has really learned a lot from my Tiger Imitations, don’t you think?

Just Food, Friends and Freedom

“Located in Northern Thailand, Boon Lott’s Elephant Sanctuary (BLES) is passionately devoted to creating a safe and natural environment for Thai elephants. They care for rescued and retired elephants, allowing them to interact freely within 200 acres of forested land. There are no performances — just elephants being elephants.”

Wassana Chained Lonely and Depressed

Wassana (Fortune) was rescued  by Boon Lott’s Elephant Sanctuary (BLES).  This beautiful elephant was discovered  by  accident when  BLES founders Katherine and Anon were following up on a call about a baby elephant living in unacceptable conditions.

When they took a wrong turn, they found Wassana limping due to an old land mine injury which had blown away half of her foot. She was crying from the pain being inflicted on her by the mahout’s huge hook. Blood dripped down her face and there were numerous stab marks puncturing her forehead.  Katherine and Anon knew that this cruelty must come to an end.

After many twists and turns, negotiations and a long nine hour transport, Wassana reached BLES, her new home.

From BLES’s web page:

~Wassana greeted Katherine with a long stare. She lowered her head, lifted her maimed foot and rubbed it gently with her trunk. Katherine knew what Wassana was trying to tell her. Katherine stroked Wassana’s cheek and whispered into her ear, “Don’t worry my Darling. There is no work for you here. Just food, friends, and freedom”.~

Tony in Caged Confinement

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have a happy ever after ending for our big cousin Tony? Each day our Friend Tony sits lonely and depressed at the Tiger Truck Stop in Grosse Tete, LA.  Tony has to endure truck fumes, noise and bright lights.  He is confined to a small cement cage with no water to cool off.  He does not have any enrichment activities  or meaningful interaction of any kind.

Maybe Someday This Will Be Tony

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if our cousin Tony could one day  roll in the grass and jump into a pool of water at a Sanctuary like Big Cat Rescue?

Friends, please do not forget about Tony.  Sign the petition.  Urge the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries to not Renew the Permit for the Truck Stop to keep Tony.   Let your voice be heard.

Maybe some day just like Wassana, with the love and support of many people,Tony will get to live a happily ever after too with no more suffering.

Just Food, Friends and Freedom.

The Tiniest Tiger’s Big Cat Rescue Tile

Friends, We did it! Hurrah!  We united our small paws to feed one of our big cousins at Big Cat Rescue!  Look at the beautiful tile Big Cat Rescue made us to show their appreciation!

We can all be proud that our Small Paws United to Make a Big Difference! It even has our name on the tile.  Aren’t you super proud of our streak?  Who feels like strutting? I know I do.  Or, I can throw dirt out of the fig tree to celebrate.

Thank you everyone! I wonder who will be the first The Tiniest Tiger friend to get their photo with the tile?  Won’t that be exciting too?  You see, Friday the 13th is not unlucky after all.

I can’t wait to show Bad Kitty.  He is going to be so proud of us.

Big Cat Catnip!

Our Cousins at Big Cat Rescue relaxed a little and most enjoyed their  catnip treat.  Only one Big Cousin didn’t seem to interested.  Do you know who?   I couldn’t help but wish I could see Tony enjoying a treat at Big Cat Rescue too.  Please sign the newest petition for him and keep him in your thoughts.  Thank you everyone.  Meow for Now from me, Gracey, The Tiniest Tiger.

The Tiniest Tiger Asks You to Be The Change for Animals

Blog the Change

“If you have men who will exclude any of God’s creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow men”

Francis of Assisi

Today is Be the Change for Animals day!  One day, once a quarter, Be the Change for Animals is asking bloggers to make a special post to talk about what they are passionate about and how they are trying to make a difference in the lives of animals.

Friends of The Tiniest Tiger know that we like to laugh, learn and share in our community. But we also unite our small paws to make a difference. We are approaching the one year anniversary of our The Tiniest Tiger Facebook page and our streak has grown to over 18,000!

Over the past year, The Tiniest Tiger’s Conservation Cub Club has  united their paws to help many of our cousins in need. Our Friend Anna Marie called out to her Friends at The Tiniest Tiger when her beloved Kaydee was suffering from complications after being neutered.  Kaydee’s medical expenses were mounting and Anna Marie was facing a decision about her baby based not on what could be done for him, but for what she could afford.   After exhausting her own resources  something told her to turn to The Tiniest Tiger for help.

Anna Marie’s heart felt plea launched our first united front to help save one of our cousins in need.  The outpouring of support was overwhelming  and Kaydee’s bill was paid in full. Sadly, Kaydee did not survive. He passed away in Anna Marie’s arms knowing that he was loved and his life mattered.   And mattered, indeed.

Our motto Small Paws United to Make a Big Difference began with Anna Marie and Kaydee. Over the year TTT’s Conservation Cub Club has united to help out many of our Cat Cousins, both big and small.  After winning the Bissell MVP Pet Photo Contest, we were able to donate $10,000 to PurrEver Ranch Sanctuary. We supported, Meow for Mango, Nosetaps for Nancy, Big Cat Rescue and others.  In our 1st year we have been able to donate $17,000 to Cats in need, both big and small.

The quote at the beginning of this post is by Francis of Assisi (Giovanni Francesco Bernardone, 1181-1226)  known as the patron saint of animals and the environment.

I have his icon hanging in my office to remind me to try to do my best  for all of earth’s creatures both big and small.

Friends of The Tiniest Tiger just this week posted that there was a no-kill shelter in North Carolina in desperate need to stay in operation.  We had just ended our Nosetaps for Nancy ChipIn and were considering waiting a while before posting our next shelter.

But when I saw the name of the North Carolina no kill shelter was  St. Francis Animal Rescue Center and that today was July 15 ” Blog the Change for Animals” day, I realized that there is no time like the present and there is no time to waste when trying to make a difference in the lives of our animals.

Thank you  Blog the Change for Animals and BlogPaws for all that you do.
