Cats and Clean Sheets

Joanne's Blog

18 Jan

I don’t know about you, but we are having a slow start to the new year.  Now the month is half over already and we are still feeling like it should be the holidays.  Annie, Eddie and Mercy are active participants in keeping the holiday mood  in full swing.  Naps, snacks, and a slower pace agree perfectly with the cats.

Trying to motivate ourselves into productive mode, we began cleaning the house and taking down holiday decorations.  While Paul takes charge of the outside lights, I began to clean and  store the inside decorations.

Mercy likes to spend time on the holiday rug in front of the fireplace.  Sometimes Annie and Mercy get into a wrestling match over the rug but in the end they both curl up and soak up the warmth from the fire.  Of course, I can’t put the rug away while Mercy is sitting there so I carry on and put the bed sheets into the wash.

Mercy took immediate notice of the bed sheets heading to the washer.

When the warm sheets come out of the dryer, Mercy knows that’s his cue to pounce.  There is almost nothing he loves more than to curl up in the pile of clean warm sheets.

Doesn’t he look like he is in heaven?  I usually just leave the sheets there for him to enjoy for a while.

Then the addition of the clean warm blanket enable him to extend his stay.

That is until Annie discovers she might be missing out on something.  Mercy let out a big sigh and knew his peaceful moment had passed.  But that was alright because he loves to play hide and seek when I make the bed too.  He dives under the sheets and crawls all around waiting to pounce. Then they usually take a nap on the fresh made bed.  And as a bonus, while the cats are enjoying the clean sheets, I can put away the holiday rug.

We hope your new year is off to a great start.

My human couldn’t wait to take down the holiday decorations – and it still took her forever! I was sorry to see the tree go. We are very busy in the New Year, though!
