Meow Sounds | Feline Secret Exposed.

Cats Meow Sounds

Cats meow sounds are one of the cats best kept secrets. Human researchers have been trying to gain an understanding of  inter-specific communication, the interactions between individuals of different species, for quite some time. Despite this desire, few studies sought out to understand the interactions between companion animals and the humans that share their habitat.

However, a recent study  exposed  one of the house cats best kept secrets, that cats are able to control their humans by making a subtle change in their purr that exploits the sensory biases of the humans that share their homes. Cats are able to embed a high frequency vocal component within their low frequency purr that triggers a sense of urgency in their humans.

House cats use many different tactics and signals to communicate with their humans. Sometimes if a cat feels a hunger pang and breakfast is not served, the cat might attempt to wake their parent by knocking items off of the night stand or leaping onto their beds and waking them with intense staring or a tap of the paw.  If these efforts fail, the cat will turn to its secret weapon, the solicitation purr also known as the manipulative meow.

Cats Meowing Sounds

This solicitation cry, embedded within the naturally low-pitched purr is dramatically emphasized by cats when they want food. The cat has figured out that this cry taps into an inherent mammalian sensitivity making the sound difficult to ignore. The study carried out by the Centre for Mammal Vocal Communication Research in the Psychology Department at the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom showed that the domestic feline’s manipulated purr-cry occurs at the same frequencies, (300-600Hz) as a human infant’s cry. The cat does not go so far as to mimic the urgency of the cries of a distressed human infant but has adapted to vocalize so that their parent most likely will not just roll over and go back to sleep.

House Cats Control Humans with Meow sounds

House cats have figured out how to bridge the inter-specific communication gap between feline and human by  taking advantage of  basic nurturing instincts  enhancing  the level of cooperation and care they receive from their pet parents. Subtle and clever manipulation.

For Cat Eyes Only!

The exposure of the manipulative meow  is a serious breach of the CIA, Cat Intelligence Agency, and more than likely came from a source under the influence of nip. A full investigation is underway to protect the pampered lifestyle to which house cats have grown accustomed.

Purrs are the tool that Cali uses on me. She doesn’t use it on her Catdad. Yet she prefers his lap to mine. Is there a hidden message there?????

Gracey, my boys rarely purr, but i can understand about the infant crying, my boys are so talkative, especially Tiggy, my orange cat. he won’t usually stop unless you say his name and talk to him, its really hard to ignore. my boys also stare at me when they think its time for their yum yums, most of the time i will give it to them. they rule this house. lol

I always thought it was the eyes. Earl, or any cat for that matter, has to stare at me, and I’m putty in their paws. And I always say that “cats are the higher species.”

Michele, Earl is super smooth. His purr is so clever that you didn’t even know he was guiding you.
