International Cheetah Day
December 4 is the birthday of Khayam, a cheetah Dr. Laurie Marker founder of the Cheetah Conservation Fund, raised from a cub at Wildlife Safari in Oregon. Khayam was trained for the first research project in rewilding and the reason for her first trip to Namibia in 1977.
Dr. Marker took Khayam to Africa to see if she could be taught to hunt in the wild. During her stay in Namibia, Dr. Marker learned about how cheetahs were being exterminated by Namibian farmers who viewed them as vermin and she decided to do something about it. Dr. Marker became the cheetah’s champion because of Khayam and chose her birthday as a dat to promote cheetah conservation in honor of her memory.
The Cheetah Conservation Fund
Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF) is the world’s leading organization dedication to saving the cheetah in the wild. CCF’s conservation programming is based on scientific research. They maintain a research program on the biology, ecology and genetics of cheetahs that publishes papers in peer-reviewed journals annually. CCF operates the only fully-equipped genetics lab at an in-situ conservation facility in Africa.
With research as the foundation, CCF has a set of integrated programs that address the threats to the cheetah and its entire ecosystem, including human populations. CCF’s guiding principle is that one must secure the future of the communities that live alongside the cheetah to secure a future for the cheetah. We must help people help cheetahs.
Amani, Our Sponsored Cheetah
One of the ways you can help is by sponsoring one of the cheetahs that calls CCF home. The Tiniest Tiger community is sponsoring a cheetah named Amani thanks to your support of Triple T Studios and sales from The Cheetah Handbag.
The Cheetah Handbag Giveaway
In honor of International Cheetah Day, we are giving away one of our The Cheetah Handbags. This handbag recently sold for over $350 at recent fundraiser for the Cheetah Conservation Fund!
I decided to create a handbag that looks like Namibia feels. I wanted the colors to reflect the Namib and also pay homage to the cheetah. The Cheetah Handbag features three embroidered cheetah silhouettes, including the iconic image of a cheetah in full stride.
The cheetah embroidery is a beautiful tone of brownish orange like the dunes of the Namib and was chosen after input from The Tiniest Tiger community. The stylish handle adds to the charm of this handbag. The Tiniest Tiger logo is embossed into the front handle.
The handbag lining is a cheetah print fabric. The subtle design is a reminder of our love for all cats big and small.
One member of The Tiniest Tiger Community will win the Cheetah Handbag. If you can’t wait, you can learn more here: Triple T Studios If you would like to purchase this beautiful handbag, use the code: PURR to save 35%!

They are such gorgeous majestic creatures it would be so tragic if they were not here for the future
Cheetahs are such amazing powerful creatures. It is our duty to keep them as safe as we can.
I want to help save the cheetah because all beings deserve love and respect.
Cheetahs are magnificent and beautiful wild cats that deserve to be protected. I have a special place in my heart for all cats domestic and wild.
I want to help save the Cheetahs because I believe every species is important to the balance and function of nature. Cheetahs are such amazing and beautiful animals!
Cheetahs are an amazing and beautiful animal that we must save. It’s wonderful that Tiniest Tiger is sponsering one.
They are such amazing cats!
We need to preserve the cheetah and their habitat for future generations. And, yes, also because it is the right thing to do.
They are unique and deserve to be part of our world!
Cheetahs are my favorite of the big cats. I don’t want them to disappear and the work of Dr. Marker is doing so much to keep them going. Thank you for this opportunity.
Because the cheetah is an awesome & endangered animal. There is no creature like it. We need to save it for our future offspring to see & marvel at.
Cheetahs are magnificent, gorgeous creatures. It’s our job to protect the species. These beautiful cats don’t deserve extinction.
i will share with everyone i see about the bag and the plight of the cheetah
The balance of nature must be maintained. We live in the most apathetic society in the history of the world and it has been left to only a few, such as Dr. Marker to help those who are unable to help themselves.
Because it is the right thing to do. We are all connected. Our cruelty and insensitivity to other sentient beings is a mirror reflection of how we treat one another.
Why do I want to save cheetahs? Because I love them, as I have always loved all felidae; as apex predators, cheetahs are essential to the balance of nature which facilitates the survival of us all.
They are too beautiful to let die out.
Cheetahs are one of the many beautiful big cats, but one of a kind with their speed (which is so eloquently depicted on this handbag). We can’t let these gorgeous animals disappear from our earth. I want future generations to be able to enjoy these amazing cats. We have to stand up and speak for animals because they cannot do it for themselves.
There is nothing on this earth like the Cheetah. It would be a loss to mankind if this species were to go extinct.
I absolutely love cheetahs. They are my favorite large cat. They are graceful when running and lithe when walking. When at rest, they are alert, but to me, they seem to be meditating. I love the little “squeaks” and chirps they make when vocalizing.
Cheetahs are so precious. I do hope their numbers will increase again. We can’t lose this lovely animal.
We need to protect these beautiful and majestic cats! So many animals are or are in danger of disappearing forever. We have a responsibility to keep them safe!
Every time I tout the winning cheetah handbag will be an opportunity to share the where, how and why of my using this lovely accessory. Others need to be educated about the demise of this sleek, handsome wildcat so that they too can – hopefully – engage in the fight to save this most wonderful species. Thanks to The Tiniest Tiger for sponsoring a cheetah and the cause to save this fantastic cat!
We are losing so many of these beautiful big cats and it’s our job to help them thrive in the wild. I would hate to see them go extinct in my lifetime. It would break my heart.
Cheetahs are beautiful creatures; it is our responsibility to protect and help them to thrive.
Cheetah’s are beautiful and amazing animals. We should do all we can to keep them in their natural habitat and thriving.
Because they purr! And because every soul deserves our love and help.
Because they are Awesometastic!
I would like to help save the Cheetah of the world, because there are so few left. We need all the animals of the world for our world to function correctly. The circle of life…These majestic animals deserve to live as much as any animal. I want my family & their families to be able to see these beautiful creatures in the future, not just now. We are destroying everything given to us to protect. This saddens me deeply. If I had any money at all, I sure would make a sanctuary for these beautiful cats & every other that needs protection. <3
They are an amazing beautiful creature.
I have always loved cats of all kinds and wish to see them all. I think that all animals need a chance and people dont need to hunt them they r just being stupid! Take a picture hang it on your wall instead!
They are one of God’s most beautiful and majestic creatures. I love all cats small and BIG. It would be a horrible, horrible shame if this gorgeous animal was no longer around to roam the wild.
All of the big cats are essential to the preservation of this planet.
We are earth’s guardians & must protect the wild creatures
I love them! They are so beautiful and I hate that they are endangered.
Because they are magnificent creatures and endangered, and they keep the hooved animal population in check!
Because they are beautiful creatures and deserve to live
We have been commanded to care for all of God’s animals in an appropriate way. When our own actions cause a severe decline in population, it is our duty to do what we can to preserve them.
respect all animals
I love all cats big or small
If we look after the world , then hopefully the world we look after us. Conservation , replantation and preservation are vital
They are really beautiful animals. I’m a real cat lover and admire the way they act.
They are gorgeous animals and deserve to be saved for future generations
They are a beautiful animal and deserves all the help they can get!
I love all animals but I especially love cats of all kind. I help rescue cats where I live now. I would love to help rescue all cats. I also fear extinction. That would horrible for all.
I love all cats, big and small. Helping the people who live alongside the cheetahs is the best way to help the cats.
Extinction is forever. We have already lost so many beautiful animals in such a short amount of time. We must do everything we can to help change the mind set that it is okay to keep killing so many endangered species. I don’t know why more people don’t understand the importance of conservation. It’s heartbreaking to think the next generation will only know these magnificent beings by archival footage.
I love and respect all animals.
Cheetahs are amazing and beautiful creatures – we need to do all we can to help them.
I want to help save the cheetah and all animals large and small – all wildlife is precious, but the cheetah, in particular, is high on a pedestal because of their sleek beauty and incredible grace and speed. One of my rescue kitties is actually named Duma (Swahili for cheetah) because she is super quick and when she was a kitten, she had what looked like the cheetah tear tracks, and her coloring is also similar to the cheetah, without the spots! I never want to see these beauties (or any animal) become extinct. Thank you for all you do for the big cats and small ones – and all the other animals as well. I love your site and shop!
Their are so few left and due to their limited gene pool I understand they are among the most fragile species on the endangered list. How can we deprive our children’s children of this incredible feline? We can’t I want to help save them!
Cheetahs are such beautiful and majestic creatures, they deserve to be saved.
They are beautiful animals…and part of our family. 🙂
Any animal is worth saving. The wild animals are so beautiful and free and it’s sad to see them become extinct.
i would like to save them and all of the wild animals, b4 they become extinct. there is no reason to kill these beautiful graceful creatures, we have already lost so many due to hunting and cruelty.
we need to save all the wild animal species we can, but the loss of the cheetah would be especially great as it is such a beautiful and iconic animal.
I want to live with the cheetah. Love them, they are amazing!
We will never have this chance again to save cheetahs and so many of earth’s disappearing species. What would it say of our own species, if we let such magnificent creatures slip into oblivion? We must find a way to respect all life and understand that each has as much of a right to this earth as we do.
We need to raise awareness of all our animals on this plant due to extinction of many species. Big cats are high on the list of being lost to us. We need to protect them for future generations.
All animals deserve to be free
Congratulations Vickie! You are the winner of the Cheetah Handbag. You package will be on its way to you today via USPS and you will receive a tracking number via email. Thank you for being a part of The Tiniest Tiger community.
The fastest cat alive must remain that way, and not become an awesomely beautiful and inspiring memory destroyed by human ignorance.
They’re beautiful and a valuable part of the earth’s ecology
I want to help save the cheetah because I love all cats, big and small, and it would be a tragedy to lose the unique beauty of the cheetah, and to lose such a vital part of the African ecology.
We need to save all cats, big and small The threat of extinction these beautiful animals face is alarming. The poaching of all animals; cats, elephants, etc. needs to be stopped.
We need to save the Cheetah’s and every other animal we are destroying! So many animals are going to be extinct soon & this is very sad to me, we destroyed the life that was given to us to care for. We need to stop the unnecessary poaching of these beautiful cats. My husband & I recently visited the Cincinnati Zoo & watched the Cheetah Exhibit, boy was it exciting watching her run! She was chasing a toy on a remote line. They are beautiful, graceful and they are needed in our world, just like every other animal/plant that was given to us to care for.
