National Answer Your Cat’s Questions Day!

Annie Head Tilt

Would Annie ask a lot of questions?

National Answer Your Cat’s Questions Day!

Today is National Answer Your Cat’s Questions Day!  Boy, when I saw this, I immediately thought of Annie.  All cats are curious by nature, but Annie seems to be extra curious and at first I thought if she could ever begin to ask questions….she might never stop! But then I gave this some more thought.

All of our cats are smart, no question, but Annie has the art of observation down pat.  She watches everything we do, up close and tilts her head while she studies our movements.  Through her keen observation, she was the ring leader in the getting the cat treats out of the cupboard caper that led us to put cat-proof locks on our cupboard doors.  Here is more about the midnight raid on the cupboards, in case you missed that update. How to Keep Your Cat Out of Your Cupboards.

Annie on dryer

Annie observing us putting the cat food in the closet.

We keep the supply of cat food in a closet opposite of the laundry room.   Whenever we are restocking the closet, we can count on Annie to perch on top of the dryer and watch our every move.  I can almost see her calculating the amount of torque required to get the door to pivot open.

Annie observing

Annie loves to accompany me in the kitchen while I am washing dishes.  She is fascinated by the water, suds and of course the swirling motion of the dishwater draining out of the sink.  After dinner, she knows that I will be heading to the kitchen to clean up, so she waits for me, making sure she doesn’t miss any of the action.

In the middle of the night, Annie must try to wash some dishes on her own because sometimes we find the Scrub Daddy we clean the cats dishes with on the counter and sometimes on the floor beside her bowl.  She really is trying to be so helpful.

Her fascination with water extends to her performing lifeguard duty while I take a shower.  She sits at full alert tilting her head side to side until I exit safely.

Annie and Eddie I see you looking at the cupboards.

So, you are saying you don’t want us to get into the cupboards?

The dynamic duo, Annie and Eddie often observe together to make sure they don’t miss anything.  Eddie takes a more relaxed approach while Annie is on the the edge of her seat and engaged.  This photo was taken while we were placing the cat-proof locks on the cupboards.  She hasn’t managed to open the locked cupboards……yet.

Annie and Cartoon Annie

I can’t really put into words how much I love Annie.  She is truly a sweetheart and along with Eddie and Mercy brought happiness back into our home.  I love our hide and seek games in the evening and our 4 am snuggle time when she demands I extend my right arm so she can curl up on my upper arm near my neck and shoulder and then place my left arm over  her and hold her paw.

Annie and I seem to communicate quite well already, so if she were able to ask me questions, I think they would be thought provoking and deep because she is able to figure out most things on her own through observation.  So, I get the feeling if  we were to explain something to Annie, she might reply with, I already know that….most of the time.

What do you think your cat would ask you?

Annie is just so adorable! I love her little face, it’s too cute (especially with the inquisitive head tilt!). I know my cat’s first question would be, “why can’t I have more treats?!”

Thanks, Danielle. We think she is awfully cute too. And that head tilt allows her to get away with a lot of mischief.

Annie shares some strong similarity to The Kis Sage. She is overly curious about all cupboard doors especially the one leading to the lazy Susan

Have you had to put locks on your cupboards too?

My Dizzy is very verbal, he talks and yells at me. However, he does not talk to my husband who is deaf. I’m sure he understands he’s not getting an answer.

Awwww. Annie is a chatter too. But Eddie is a man of few words.
