People Saving Pets empowered by PetSmart Charities

Volunteer Action Day

November 8 is Volunteer Action Day!

People Saving Pets™ is a social movement empowered by PetSmart Charities® that is dedicated to saving the lives of adoptable pets and solving the homeless pet problem by uniting pet lovers and inspiring local action. On Tuesday, November 8, in conjunction with National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week (Nov 6-12),  People Saving Pets is introducing Volunteer Action Day to bring awareness of how much animal welfare organizations need volunteers and to encourage animal loving people to help pets by volunteering in their communities.

What is terrific about Volunteer Action Day is that you can take action from the comfort of your home, right from your own computer.  All you need to do is take that first step in learning about opportunities in your area and if you are already volunteering, share your story on the People Saving Pets Facebook page.

Here are the simple steps to get you started as a Volunteer in your area.

Step 1:  Visit the People Saving Pets Volunteer Network powered by VolunteerMatch.

Step 2: Enter your Zip Code to find volunteer opportunities near you.

Step 3: Register to sign up for an opportunity.

Step 4: Spread the word! Share the People SAving Pets Volunteer Action Daybanner on  your Facebook page and invite your friends to join you by telling them to participate in Volunteer Action Day.

The Microsite for People Saving Pets houses two Infographics to show you the impact that volunteers have on animal welfare organizations and also to show you what to expect when you volunteer for pets. (You can click on the images in our post to see these Infographics.)

What to Expect When Volunteering

What to Expect When Volunteering

Did you know that 97% of animal welfare organizations need volunteers?  People volunteering helps keep down administrative costs, allowing the organization to use  funds toward the care of pets in need of adoption including spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, food  to name just a few things.

I bet you are super curious now to find out where you can volunteer in your area.  All you have to do is click here to join the movement!

When we unite our small paws to make a big difference, amazing things can happen. Working together we can stop the cycle of homelessness.

  • Encourage adoption.
  • Promote the importance of spaying and neutering
  • Unite all pet loving people in a social movement to end unnecessary euthanasia.

Thank you everyone for caring for all animals big and small.

Welcome to The Tiniest Tiger

Joanne McGonagle Namibia

Hi, I’m Joanne and I love all cats. With a Global Field Master of Zoology degree focused on big cat conservation, I like to learn and talk about big cats too. I share my habitat with Paul and we were adopted by our cats Annie, Eddie and Bob.

The Tiniest Tiger has a fierce following of cat lovers and we’d love it, if you’d join us.
