Petties Banner 2012

The Tiniest Tiger is a finalist in the 2012 Petties Best Blog Post Category

I am pleased to tell you that  The Tiniest Tiger’s Conservation Cub Club is a finalist in the 2012 Petties!
Our are up for Best Blog Post for our Cat Obituary, Farewell Eastern Cougar.  We are honored to be nominated again this year in the Petties. I am proud to be a finalist for our post about the Eastern Cougar’s extinction.  I wanted the post to be a voice for our big cat cousins and the trouble they are having surviving in the human dominated landscape.

We have been honored for the past three years, since the first Petties to be nominated for an award. We were a finalist in 2010 for Best Cause Related Blog and in 2011 for Best Cat Blog.  This year we were nominated for Best Facebook Page in the Blogpaws Nose to Nose Awards and now we are a finalist in the Best Blog Post category for the 2012 Petties.

Gracey is the Reigning Susan Lucci of the Pet Blogging Awards.

Iams Home 4 The Holidays Kicks Off Its’ 13th Annual Pet Adoption And Bags 4 Bowls Program

Iams Home 4 the Holidays, one of the world’s largest pet adoption programs, kicks off its annual adoption drive today in partnership with Helen Woodward Animal Center, with the goal of finding homes for 1.5 million orphaned pets.  Now in its 13th year, the program, which runs from October 1, 2011 through January 3, 2012, has helped 5.8 million pets find loving homes all around the world.

Iams and Helen Woodward Animal Center are teaming up again this year with more than 3,500 animal organizations worldwide to encourage pet adoption.  In addition, Iams will also donate 5 million meals to animals in need at adoption and rescue centers through its Bags 4 Bowls program.

While finding loving homes for orphaned pets is critical and the core of the program, the campaign is also designed to provide shelters and rescue centers with much needed food donations. With the help of consumers, the Iams Bags 4 Bowls program aims to donate 5 million meals to animals housed in participating organizations.

BlogPaws Highlights! The Year of the Cat!

This past week-end was one of my favorite events of the year! Blogpaws was created  for the online pet community. They focus on bringing together pet bloggers for education, networking and creating change for animals in need.  This year’s conference was held in Tysons Corner, Virginia. And it was a fantastic event even though HurricaneWelcome to blogpaws Irene tried to put a damper on the festivities.

I sent  my stunt double Flat Gracey with my mom to cover the event.   Flat Gracey was provided to me courtesy of Flat Tyler!   Fluffy Tyler’s mom PetCareBev is the genius behind My Flat Pet.  Flat Gracey travels much easier and without anxiety.  This provides me a way to attend events from the comfort of my habitat.

Here I am with some of my Flat Pet Friends. Flat Tyler is the handsome Bichon to my left.  Preston is the handsome Westie to my right.  Fluffy Preston, from Preston Speaks was also in attendance at blogpaws.

P&G’s Behind the Paw Pet Influencer Summit

This entry is part 2 of 4 in the series Behind The Paw

We have returned from the Iams & Eukanuba Behind The Paw Influencer Summit and it was super interesting.  In my post earlier this month Iams and Eukanuba: Behind The Paw, many of you posted questions both here on our Conservation Cub Club and also on our The Tiniest Tiger facebook page.

There were many great questions on different topics. One topic in particular that keeps surfacing and brings  the claws out in some people is the unsubstantiated rumor that Iams & Eukanuba participate in animal cruelty. The comments almost always refer to  the same old pieced together video that was released nearly ten years ago. I want to get this out of the way in this first post so that we can move on to talk about interesting and helpful topics like feline nutrition.

I took the opportunity to post photos taken at the P&G Pet Care Health & Nutrition Center on our facebook page but I didn’t say where the photos were taken.  Some of the comments were; Is it heaven?, a luxury day care facility? a golf course?  Many commented how happy and healthy the dogs and cats looked in the photos. That is what we saw too during our visit, happy, healthy pets!

So what is all the fuss about?  This is what is at the root of the rumor.
