The Tiniest Tiger Update

Joanne's Blog

16 Dec
Our cat Annie looking cute as always.

The Tiniest Tiger update has been overdue. It has been a while since we last posted. I want to apologize to you for staying quiet for so long without an explanation. I can’t tell you how touched we were when you emailed saying you missed us.

A lot has changed. We are caught up and ready to share the news and plans going forward.

The Tiniest Tiger Update

We sold our e-commerce store in August. There were a variety of reasons, which I will write in more detail later, but one big reason was we wanted to have time to spend enjoying each day. We wanted to be able to sit down and cuddle with Annie, Eddie and Bob, without the heavy cloud of “I should be doing something else.” weighing on our shoulders.

The goal of the store was to raise money for big cat conservation, and we did for over 10 years! We were proud to be able to support so many important projects. Over the last year, as wholesale prices increased, the uncertainty of tariffs and other risk factors, we thought it was best for us to move on to explore other interests.

I am excited to have time to read more about current developments in big cat conservation. We launched Thinking Tiger Books.,, Engaging, Educational Resources for Curious Kids! ….and adults.

I have been substitute teaching for our local school district too. There is a great need for substitute teachers so I thought I could help out by signing up to participate. It has been a good experience and I love learning about what the students are learning. It has been more than a few years since I was in middle school! And as an extra bonus, after working so many years from home, this forces me out of the house at least a few days a week.

Annie Sleeping in her Blanket Bed

Gracey, one of The Tiniest Tiger, sleeping in her blanket bed.

Annie created her own bed out of a blanket. I wish we would have taken a video while she was working so hard to get the bed just right.

Eddie, one of The Tiniest Tigers, snuggling with Paul

Eddie, is Paul’s cuddle buddy. Ever since Eddie leapt out of the cage into Paul’s arms on the day Annie and Eddie were adopted from Grayson Humane Society, Eddie has been Paul’s shadow. It is super sweet. Lately, Eddie has curled up beside me in the evening for about an hour before he returns to Paul’s side.

Bob keeping warm by fireplace. Bob is one of The Tiniest Tiger cats.

Bob loves to rest in the warmth from the fireplace. He has developed some arthritis, which we are working on getting him some relief, so the heat from the fire seems to help him feel better. It is hard to believe Bob has been with us for over 5 years already. Time really does fly by, another reason we wanted to slow down and enjoy less stressful days.

Baking cookies at The Tiniest Tiger house

That is our The Tiniest Tiger update for today. We are baking Christmas cookies, something we are able to do again this season. What I learned from baking these small Linzer cookies is that the Austrians might have more patience than this person of Scottish descent. Shortbread next!

Thank you so much for being a part of The Tiniest Tiger community. Your friendship means the world to us!

Welcome to The Tiniest Tiger

Joanne McGonagle Namibia

Hi, I’m Joanne and I love all cats. With a Global Field Master of Zoology degree focused on big cat conservation, I like to learn and talk about big cats too. I share my habitat with Paul and we were adopted by our cats Annie, Eddie and Bob.

The Tiniest Tiger has a fierce following of cat lovers and we’d love it, if you’d join us.
